The ski resorts of Andorra raise investment to €39 million for the new winter season

The domains reaffirm their commitment to continuing to set the benchmark in the Pyrenees on snow guarantee with a record investment of €11 million in optimizing the snow‑making network

Grandvalira, Pal Arinsal and Ordino Arcalís will this winter lead the way in improving the guest experience with the Mobile Pass, the ski pass on your mobile

The season will be marked by major sporting events, with the Alpine Skiing World Cup in Grandvalira, the first ever FIS Freeride World Championships in Ordino Arcalís, and the Ski Mountaineering World Cup in Pal Arinsal.

The resorts of Grandvalira Resorts this morning unveiled the news for this winter season 2025‑2026, which is scheduled to start on 5 December and run until 6 April, weather permitting. Ordino Arcalís, Pal Arinsal and Grandvalira face the fourth joint season under the Grandvalira Resorts umbrella, maintaining their commitment to continuous improvement of infrastructure and services. The total investment for this season almost doubles compared to last winter, rising by 86 % to €39 million, making it one of the highest investment figures among Andorran domains in recent years. By resort, €32.1 million corresponds to Grandvalira, €2.9 million to Pal Arinsal and €4 million to Ordino Arcalís.

One of the main strategic pillars this winter is snow guarantee, as explained by the Marketing Director of Grandvalira Resorts, David Ledesma. In fact, of the total investment of €39 million, approximately €11 million correspond to improvements in artificial snow production and the piste snow‑making network. “Adding this winter’s investments to those of the last five years, we have invested €27.8 million in improvements to the snow‐making network. Our intention is to continue at this pace in the medium term, as these are essential investments to keep modernising the resorts and guarantee the best snow conditions for our guests, and so that Andorra continues to be perceived as a snow guarantee,” said Ledesma.

In addition, the Andorran resorts have implemented major improvements in innovation and digitalisation with the arrival of the new Mobile Pass, one of the main novelties for this season, for which the domains of the Principality will become the first in the Pyrenees to integrate the ski pass on the mobile.

The investments have also focused on new infrastructure and facilities, such as the multifunctional building at Pas de la Casa, a new surface lift in the El Tarter sector, the extension of the TK Eslàlom at Soldeu or a new conveyor belt at Ordino Arcalís, among others.

Likewise, the domains of Andorra continue to diversify their offering with new experiences, improving dining services, après‑ski and the ski and snowboard school. Finally, the commitment to sustainability has been reaffirmed with goals to further reduce CO₂ emissions and increase renewable self‑generated energy, among other actions.

All of this in a winter in which the Andorran resorts will once more host major sporting events, with the return of the Alpine Skiing World Cup to Grandvalira, the first FIS Freeride World Championships in Ordino Arcalís, or the ISMF Comapedrosa World Cup at Pal Arinsal, among other competitions.

Snow guarantee

The Andorran resorts maintain their firm commitment to offering a quality experience to visitors with optimal conditions throughout the season, guaranteeing a minimum of 66 % of the domain covered by artificial snow, and so each year they allocate significant investments to optimise the snow‑making network and reinforce snow production in an ever more efficient and sustainable way. This year the commitment continues to grow. Indeed, a record investment in improvements to the artificial snow network has been made, reaching almost €11 million among the three Grandvalira Resorts stations.

Among the main innovations in this area are the installation of 53 new snow cannons that expand the snow‑making network and the replacement of 118 units with more efficient models, which consume 90 % less energy. The piste profiles have also been improved to optimise snow production and reduce water and energy consumption. In addition, Grandvalira has been a pioneer in the Pyrenees in implementing a new cooling system for the water tanks in the Canillo sector, which reduces energy consumption by 90 %.

Also noteworthy are the two projects of new water tanks that will be ready for next season. On the one hand, the new Lac del Vaquer tank, in the Grau Roig sector, will have a capacity of 100,000 m³, while the one in the Coma area of Ordino Arcalís will have a capacity of 36,000 m³. A new snow‑production room has also been built at Grau Roig which enables the instantaneous snow‑making capacity in the Pas de la Casa sector to be multiplied by 2.5, while the same has been done at Ordino Arcalís to reinforce the station’s capacity to guarantee optimal conditions throughout the season. Likewise, the Soldeu‑El Tarter sectors have installed 3 km of new piping which increase the instantaneous flow rate by 400 m³/h up to 4,000 m³/h.

On the other hand, in Arinsal the renewal of the snow‑production management system has been completed so that it will be more efficient and modern, and the beginner zone in this sector has also undergone a refurbishment improving snow production and management.

Also, thanks to the technology applied to snow‑grooming machines using Leica and Snowsat systems, snow production can be reduced by 20 %, thus achieving much more efficient resource management, optimising the consumption of water as well as fuel in the use of snow‑groomers.

Mobile Pass: the ski pass on your phone

Grandvalira Resorts takes a giant leap forward in digitalising services to continue enhancing the visitor experience and has unveiled a new revolution in the ski sector in the Pyrenees: the Mobile Pass. The new digital pass will allow you to have the ski pass on your mobile and access the lifts without the need to take it out of your pocket.

The Mobile Pass implementation will be progressive, starting this season with Adult ski passes of 1 to 3 days, and gradually other products will be incorporated such as Season Passes, among others. Purchases may be made both through the APP and the official Grandvalira Resorts websites, thereby avoiding the need to go to the ticket office, which will mean a great saving of time, and it will be necessary to have the Grandvalira Resorts APP to use it.

To make it possible, all the turnstiles at the three resorts have been renewed, that is, a total of 244 turnstiles. These new devices automatically detect the mobile pass via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology which enables fast and secure access. “Just as we buy an airline ticket and have the boarding pass on our mobile, now with the Mobile Pass it will be the same for skiing and you can buy online and go straight to ski. Also, the BLE technology uses less than 1 % extra battery consumption on the mobile,” explained Ledesma.

The new turnstiles also incorporate the Smart Guard anti‑fraud system, based on artificial intelligence, which allows the monitoring of improper usage of day and season passes through photographic user control.

Other improvements in the Grandvalira Resorts digital ecosystem

The Grandvalira Resorts APP incorporates further innovations, such as the Wifi button, a new functionality through which users can connect their devices automatically to the wifi of all the resorts by pressing a single button. Likewise, it will feature a digital wallet where all the reservation vouchers for school, dining and other resort services will be stored.

In this regard, after the great success of downloads obtained last season, the application will continue to offer the sale of eSIMs to connect to the Andorra mobile network easily and quickly, and at the most competitive prices on the market.

Cancellation guarantee

The Grandvalira resort has launched a new Cancellation Guarantee that will allow visitors to book with greater foresight and peace of mind. In the event of cancellations, this coverage will allow a 100 % refund of any expenses for any product or service contracted via the resort’s website: day and multi‑day ski passes, activities, experiences, equipment rental, hotel and dining.

Highlights on the slopes

The works that began last year for the new multifunctional building being constructed at the foot of the slopes at Pas de la Casa are progressing well, so this winter some provisional spaces such as the ticket office, ski school and equipment rental will already be able to open. The building will officially open in the 2026‑2027 season, and will have a total surface of 3,200 m² spread over two floors.

This year the second phase of construction of the TK Eslàlom surface lift was executed and consisted of extending this facility to 556 m and a elevation difference of 229 m. The TK Eslàlom was inaugurated last season and gives access to the Estadi Eslàlom Creand, a black‑run homologated by the FIS for high‑level training and which during the season has hosted both skiers from the Andorran Ski Federation and international competitors. It has also been remodelled to include a new 58‑metre tunnel underneath it to facilitate circulation in the area.

On the other hand, the beginner area at Pla de Ribaescorjada in the El Tarter sector has been expanded with the re‑installation of a surface lift named TK Refugi, with a length of 70 metres and a capacity of 720 skiers/hour. Another substantial change has been the dismantling of the TK Bosc in Soldeu to convert the space into a new freeride area.

In the El Tarter sector this winter you will be able to enjoy the new Turbo Snow Explorers circuit, a track that incorporates a tunnel, animations and obstacles, especially designed for the enjoyment of the youngest. For its part, Pal Arinsal debuts two new Fun Cross circuits, tracks designed to add fun to the descent, with banked turns, small jumps and various elements that allow playing with technique and speed.

Another standout novelty in the Pal sector is the new motor‑home parking area at La Caubella, which will have space for 30 spots and will include most of the necessary services for overnighting.

At Ordino Arcalís, one of the improvements skiers will discover is the redesign of the famous Megaverda, the longest green run in the Pyrenees at 8.5 km, which has been transformed into a new Kids Forest, becoming an immersive experience designed for families and children. Likewise, beginners will also find in the Coma area a new conveyor belt 100 m long with a transport capacity of 1,000 people/hour.

A pause to enjoy gastronomy

Continuing the line of recent seasons, Grandvalira Resorts consolidates and expands its commitment to quality gastronomy, incorporating new experiences, renewed spaces and collaborations with prestigious chefs. The aim is to continue positioning itself as a benchmark in the Pyrenees not only for its sports offering, but also for a varied, modern and high‑level culinary proposition that complements the ski day and après‑ski.

Renowned chef Nandu Jubany, with one Michelin star and five Repsol suns, strengthens his link with Grandvalira with new proposals that add to those of Vodka Bar and Brasserie Piolet, two of last winter’s novelties. Thus, Jubany expands his collaboration with the resort by taking on the catering of Tub bulthaup as well as the implementation of La Vacanal, his new line of gourmet burgers, at the Coma III restaurant in the Grau Roig sector. This sector is also bolstered by La Suculenta, which will bring to the slopes the urban experience of artisanal smash burgers from the Andorran brand in a young space with a panoramic terrace.

The Soldeu – El Tarter sectors bring in proposals that extend the day beyond skiing, such as the Jean Leon Classic Nights with themed dinners and live music; the Rando’n’izza initiative, which combines nocturnal adventure with Italian gastronomy from La Trattoria in the El Tarter sector; and the original Neu‑Flix, an open‑air cinema at over 2,000 metres with barbecue and popcorn. Furthermore, the IQOS Terrace strengthens its identity with premium smash burgers and live performances, consolidating Grandvalira as a stage where mountain meets cuisine, culture and entertainment. On the other hand, the Snow Club Gourmet celebrates its 8th edition in the Soldeu – El Tarter sectors and is established as a reference appointment for haute gastronomy and snow. This season the programme includes four exceptional days.

Pal Arinsal renews this winter two of its most emblematic restaurants. The Terroir, located in Arinsal, debuts the concept “Quick bites, real roots”, featuring an agile and healthy international cuisine proposition designed for the rhythm of skiers. In the Pal sector, the Rústic reinvents itself with the concept “Rôtisserie”, offering home‑style roasts and dishes made with local produce.

The Restaurant la Coma in Ordino Arcalís also presents a programme of exclusive dinners during the season, coinciding with special nights such as full‑moon nights. In addition, the resort has renovated the interior of the Refugi de les Portelles restaurant.

Festivals, music and non‑stop après‑ski

The Abarset has already been established as the benchmark for après‑ski in the Pyrenees for those wanting to live a vibrant winter, as shown by the continuous sell‑outs of its sessions. This winter the famous venue will host internationally recognised names like Adam Beyer, Nina Kraviz, 2 Many DJs, Paco Osuna, Toman or East End Dubs, among others. Collaborations with Brunch Electronik and Bresh will also return, as well as the “L’After” format, which allows the party to continue inside the venue until 2 AM.

The Hibernation Festival at Pas de la Casa will return from 20 to 22 March 2026 with its seventh edition. The event, which brings together over 10,000 attendees, is consolidated as one of the most prominent electronic music events in the Pyrenees.

New activities beyond skiing

Grandvalira presents novelties that strengthen the offering of activities and visitor comfort. In the Grau Roig sector the new Roc Roi Adventure centre building is launched, a self‑sustainable structure with solar panels that improves the service and includes Food Trucks to create relaxation spaces. Also added are the new proposals from Grandvalira Mountain Guides, the expert mountain guides, with ice‑climbing and Dry Tooling activities. Additionally, this winter the Grandvalira Tour is promoted, a product to discover the slopes and emblematic points of the resort with a school monitor.

With regard to family and children’s activities, the snow‑shoeing project “Rastres de l’hivern” stands out, aimed at children aged 6 to 12 years. Moreover, the Exploradors area of the Refugi de Pal opens four children’s circuits for snow‑shoeing and snowtrek, a proposal that seeks to encourage contact with nature and outdoor physical activity.

Likewise, Pal Arinsal reaffirms itself as the resort par excellence for Ski & Bike in the Pyrenees, thanks to its Bike Park which will open again this winter, weather and snow conditions permitting. In this way, one can enjoy cycling alongside skiing with the five trails enabled in the lower zone of the Bike Park, a total of 16 kilometres of tracks and 700 m of vertical drop.

Unique mountain accommodations

The exclusive unique accommodations of Grandvalira, located in exceptional spots in the heart of the resort, return this season with a major novelty: their management passes to the prestigious hotel chain Serras Collection. The 3 Cabanes de Grandvalira by Serras Collections —the Domo, the Niu del Pla de les Pedres and the Cabana Piolet— will offer a unique and 100 % personalised way to discover the mountain, both for romantic getaways and group experiences where visitors can live an incomparable stay among mountains, with exclusive services and signature gastronomy.

Sustainability and environment

The Andorran resorts have invested more than €200 million in the past 10 years, and a significant part has been dedicated to projects promoting renewable energy, energy savings and self‑production of energy. In this last area, the three resorts have driven several infrastructures for renewable energy production and use, among which stand out the Ordino Arcalís micro‑hydroelectric plant, inaugurated in 2016, the Pessons micro‑hydroelectric plant at Grandvalira, operating since the 2022‑2023 season, or the Planell de la Tosa Solar Park at Pal Arinsal, with 22,000 m² of solar panels active since 2021.

This year, a new photovoltaic park has been launched at the intermediate station of the Funicamp, which will allow production of up to 1.2 GW, which together with the solar panels already generating across different resort buildings and the Pessons micro‑hydro plant, will allow Grandvalira’s self‑production capacity to increase to 16.5 % of the energy it consumes per year, 10.5 % more than last season. In addition, given that Ordino Arcalís is 100 % self‑sufficient and Pal Arinsal has increased to 50 % renewable energy production through the new agreement with Nord Andorrà, the Grandvalira Resorts collectively will self‑produce 30 % of the energy they consume per year.

Another of the projects that the Andorran resorts promote is sustainable mobility, with the installation each year of new electric vehicle charging points at the foot of the slopes. This year six have been installed at Pas de la Casa, with which the total number of charging points for electric vehicles across all sectors of Grandvalira Resorts rises to 119. Thus, electric‑vehicle owners can charge their vehicle while enjoying their ski day.

Renewed brand campaigns

Grandvalira Resorts has again worked with the internationally renowned agency VML The Cocktail, of the global advertising holding WPP, for the creation of the brand campaigns of the resorts for this winter.

Four seasons ago, Grandvalira launched the brand platform “L’hivern infinit”, aiming to build a distinctive proposition that elevated the attributes and perception of the resort, the largest in the Pyrenees and southern Europe, where you can live countless experiences and sensations that stay with you forever — in other words, infinitely. Last year it took a further step with the creation of its own anthem, composed by Ale Acosta and performed with the National Classic Orchestra of Andorra, as a creative resource to emotionally connect with visitors. “This season we wanted to expand the impact of the anthem under the slogan ‘How does your winter sound?’, reimagining it in a jazz version to symbolise the personalisation and improvisation that each person can live at Grandvalira. The campaign maintains an innovative and visually bold tone, with the goal of elevating the brand and consolidating it as an inspiring, emotional and different proposition within the world of snow,” explained the marketing director of Grandvalira Resorts.

Pal Arinsal launched last season a new campaign that brought together mountain and resort values through “We are mountain, We are Ski & Bike”. A campaign that brings together the values of the mountain and reminds that Pal Arinsal is the reference domain for all audiences both in winter, with a full ski offering, and in summer, with its prestigious Bike Park. Ledesma indicated that “this year, the campaign depicts the need to disconnect from noise and reconnect with pleasure. All of it is achieved by portraying stories of people who put the mountain above commitments and social conventions”.

For the third season, Ordino Arcalís centres its winter campaign on its clients, the “Indomables”, who have made the resort a benchmark in the Pyrenees. In this winter’s campaign “we have introduced a concept that invites you to let yourself be carried by the instinct of freedom with the claim ‘The instinct calls you’, through a piece full of metaphors and analogies between what society dictates and the impulses of the Indomables”, concluded Ledesma.

Sporting competitions

As for competitions, Grandvalira Resorts will once again be the stage for the highest‑level national and international competitions:

  • ISMF Comapedrosa Andorra Ski Mountaineering World Cup – 24 to 26 January 2026: The Arinsal sector will host two events. On one hand, the iconic Vertical Race will return, and on the other, a new Olympic discipline will debut in Andorra: the Sprint race, which will debut at the Olympic Games a few weeks later in Milan – Cortina d’Ampezzo 2026.
  • Trofeo Borrufa FIS Children – 26 to 29 January 2026: Ordino Arcalís will host the 34th edition of one of the most important international alpine ski competitions for youths aged 11 to 16.
